Features

Low cost 8 channel USB relay board with 8 channel input/output port controlled through the USB port.

Designed for single board operation one unit per USB port or multiple board operation on the same USB port. Up to 15 additional RS232 version boards (Example: S8-RLY-EXT-L) may be connected in a daisy chain configuration to each of these USB units, with up to a total of 128 - 10 Amp relays under PC control on one USB port. 

Our boards utilize a USB to serial chip which allows a seamless transition from RS232 boards to USB boards. The same software may be used for both board versions and are interchangeable between our USB and RS232 boards. All the same commands are utilized, including the same communication protocols and baud rates. The USB driver creates a virtual serial port, and your controlling software will not know the difference.

Daisy Chain Operation:
These USB versions have the capability to daisy chain the standard RS232 models to this unit. Each USB unit has a RS232 output modular jack that is connected to the input of a RS232 unit for daisy chain operation. 

The modular cable connected to the output must be the standard telephone wiring configuration which is reverse wired. Network/data/printer cables will not work correctly.

For each additional relay board connected - one additional modular cable is required.  Modular cables can be purchased here.  

8 Channel Input/Output Port:  
Both units have an 8 channel non-isolated 5VDC (TTL) input/output port.  Each channel may be programmed as either an input or an output.  Capable of sinking or sourcing 12ma, (current limited).  Pins are internally pulled to ground through a 10K resistor to prevent floating pins. 10 position terminal block connection, 16-26 AWG wire.

Standard 10A SPDT relay version

Note: The following boards are identical to the above units except they have the reed relays installed. The reed relays are SPST and the common and NO (normally open) contacts are used on the terminal block, the NC contact is not used when these relays are installed.  

Reed relays are typically used in low current, fast switching, low bounce, and high reliability applications (up to 10 billion operations), as in ATE equipment. No minimum current or voltage requirements. Reliability tested to 1 billion operations (from the manufacturer's specifications). Single pole single pole configuration. 200VDC/200VAC Peak Resistive, reed relays are typically not designed for controlling inductive loads.
